Standing in the Light - CO-WIN VENTURES Launches Wuhan Jiangcheng Optoelectronics Fund!
We are proud to announce the official establishment of the CO-WIN JIANGCHENG Optoelectronics Angel Venture Capital Fund. This marks a major new chapter for CO-WIN VENTURES after 17 years of deep commitment to the optoelectronics industry—and a strategic reinforcement of our thesis that in the AI era, light is infrastructure.
From North American tech giants doubling their data center capex year after year to the rapid acceleration of domestic AI infrastructure construction, the trend is unmistakable: data centers are transitioning from an electrical interconnect era to an optical interconnect era. Every high-performance AI compute cluster relies on high-speed optical modules and optical chips to handle massive data transmission at the foundational level.
At the same time, optical module speeds are rapidly iterating from 800G to 1.6T, while next-generation technologies like CPO (co-packaged optics) and silicon photonics integration are accelerating toward industrialization. Every link in the optoelectronics supply chain is undergoing a value revaluation.
Over 17 years, we have built a portfolio of 30+ optoelectronics companies across diverse subsectors, including InnoLight, Yuanjie Semiconductor Technology, MaxPhotonics, Jutze Technology, Hitronics Technologies, Cytek Biosciences, Sinovation Medical, JBD, DZOPTICS–a network spanning optical communications, lasers, machine vision, medical devices, and beyond.
Our unique Industrial Chain Topological Investment methodology actively uncovers high-quality opportunities through the upstream and downstream relationships of our existing portfolio companies. At least 15 of our investments originated through referrals and industry connections from our network。
· InnoLight led us to Yuanjie and Toptrans
· MaxPhotonics unlocked Hitronics and SDON
· Jutze revealed DZOPTICS and Leecho
This from industry, into industry approach gives us differentiated advantages in deal sourcing, validation, valuation negotiation, and post-investment integration. It is underpinned by what we call the One-Hour Rule – our team's ability to mobilize industrial resources and form core judgments on any specialized segment within one hour.
1. Optical Communications & Optical Interconnect
The AI compute explosion is redefining the core battleground in optoelectronics. From 800G/1.6T high-speed optical modules to CPO, silicon photonics integration, optical switching, and optical computing, the trend toward replacing electricity with light in data centers is clear and compelling. We will continue to mine investment opportunities along this value chain.
2. Laser & Micro-Nano Optics
Laser technology is rapidly penetrating high-value areas beyond industrial processing—semiconductor manufacturing, precision inspection, and medical applications. Meanwhile, micro-nano optics is ushering in a semiconductorization era for optics, where metalenses, diffractive waveguides, and MicroLEDs are unlocking massive market potential in AR/VR, next-gen displays, and biosensing. We will capture early-stage platform opportunities at the intersection of these trends.
3. Machine Vision & Semiconductor Equipment
The deep integration of photonics and AI algorithms is reshaping efficiency frontiers in industrial inspection and semiconductor manufacturing—from PCB/semiconductor AOI to wafer-level inspection, from transportation to smart grid operations. We will focus on companies with core optical system capabilities and deep industry know-how.
4. Life Sciences & Medical Devices
Photonics is the engine behind precision medicine and life science instrumentation—flow cytometry, gene sequencing, super-resolution microscopy, surgical robotics, and laser therapy all have photonics at their core. This domain offers high technological barriers and long asset lifecycles. Leveraging our existing network, we will continue to identify global innovation opportunities.
From traditional optics to micro-nano optics, from optical communications to AI-driven optical interconnect, the optoelectronics industry stands at an unprecedented historical inflection point.
After 17 years in the light, CO-WIN VENTURES will continue to stand in the light and move toward the light – with the CO-WIN JIANGCHENG Fund as our new starting point.
AI Era: Light is Infrastructure
A clear industry consensus is emerging in 2026 - optical interconnect is the vascular system of AI computing power. The explosive growth in global AI compute demand is fundamentally reshaping the optoelectronics value landscape. From North American tech giants doubling their data center capex year after year to the rapid acceleration of domestic AI infrastructure construction, the trend is unmistakable: data centers are transitioning from an electrical interconnect era to an optical interconnect era. 17 Years of Industrial Depth - CO-WIN's Topological Investment Methodology
CO-WIN's optoelectronics journey began in 2009 with our investment in InnoLight Technology, now the world's largest optical module supplier by shipments. Our investment in Yuanjie Semiconductor Technology similarly captured the silicon photonics wave, with high-power CW laser chips driving explosive revenue growth.Over 17 years, we have built a portfolio of 30+ optoelectronics companies across diverse subsectors, including InnoLight, Yuanjie Semiconductor Technology, MaxPhotonics, Jutze Technology, Hitronics Technologies, Cytek Biosciences, Sinovation Medical, JBD, DZOPTICS–a network spanning optical communications, lasers, machine vision, medical devices, and beyond.
